The remodelling of the Parra house is a consequence of the necessities of the customer to endow a degraded residence with necessary comfortable spaces in the sense of inhabiting contemporary, to stay for long periods in the city of Miranda do Douro. The existence of a garden supported by a towed wall, with four meters hight and stairs incased in the terrain, had suggested the execution of an underground construction, besides giving reply to the functional requirements of the customer (private parking and house and technical area necessary to the functioning of the heating system and the swimming pool), respect the architectural set of the historical center. Annexes to the body of the house had been constructed in disconnected way and with very rudimentary constructive quality, a set of volumes, which modified the quality of whole set. These volumes had been eliminated, and built a new volume, like a small tower, in a succession of patios and high existing walls made of stone. The main entrance leads to the central street in the historical center, through a small forecourt. This access, long ago representative, thinking about the dimension and beauty of the existing granite stairs, was amputated to build one more room. The elimination of this compartment and the construction of a balcony in granite stone over the entrance, endowed the house with a forecourt with double hight, articulated visually with several halls.
