S. Francisco’s Church is part of a complex that includes the Church and the former mendicant convent, nowadays with different roles. The complex presents a unified image despite the different stylistic languages of the facade. The main goal of this intervention was to eliminate the disrepair through the restoration and consolidation of the walls, roofing and floors and the introduction of technical facilities capable of providing the comfort appropriate to new usages. The space which had formerly connected the house and the convent, gives way to the new volume – the House of Culture – with several exhibition rooms. The outside areas were organised towards public use. The ample eastern zone of the Church works as an extension of the Cultural Centre’s activities.
